Thanks. That worked. If I wanted to use triggers and layers to make it an interactive video, how would I accomplish that, since it doesn't open in the project file? Thanks again!
Since when is this no longer possible?!?! This throws a major monkey wrench into many of my courses. So we can no longer have Youtube videos embedded on Storyline pages?!?! Even embedded code is now being refused.
Sorry to hear you're running into this issue! I tried to replicate using my own Youtube embed code as well as yours and was able to successfully publish and view the video on the latest update of Storyline.
Be sure to check to see if there are any missing spaces before or after, and try to repair Storyline to see if that helps. If all else fails, reach out to our support engineers so we can look a little deeper into why this is happening.
As of May 2015, Google no longer allows YouTube videos to be embedded in this manner with Storyline 2. However, YouTube videos in existing courses will continue to work.
To add YouTube videos to new courses, you will want to add them as a web object. When it asks for the address, you will want to use this URL: http://www.youtube.com/embed/video_id and replace the video_id section with the id of the YouTube video. The video id is the string of characters after the v = sign in the YouTube URL:

Change the URL to : "https://www.youtube.com/embed/8nTaSE0F-O4". For more info, see here.
Hi Diane,
Thanks for reaching out and letting us know what you are experiencing with your course.
I took a look and got the same error, so I took a look at your web object and was able to see this when I tried to test your link:
If I adjust the web object to play in a new browser window, then it works:
Here is my published course if you would like to take a look.

There is no built-in option to overlay an external video with Storyline objects/layers and synchronize them.
Hi, Diane. Looks like Michael and Leslie beat me to it – glad you're all set! 😊
We're here if you need anything else!
You might be able to use the youtube API to sync with objects on the Storyline timeline, but I have not looked into this yet.

I'm using Storyline 2 Update 13; should it still work?

Thank-you, that seems to do the trick. However, I required https in the weblink, else nothing would load. Thanks again!
