Hi Daniela, flat design is a graphical design style used in a lot of modern User Interfaces. None of the design elements (buttons, images) have shadows or highlights which makes them look 2-dimensional (flat) as opposed to 3-dimensional. The Storyline 2 interface is an example of flat design. I think it was developed originally to reduce the size of the interface elements so the apps would load faster.
