What's the advantage of svg images?

Oct 05, 2022

I'm having a hard time understanding the benefit of svg files. I'm noticing that I can't crop them, apply effects, or make any image changes at all. I've had a workflow where I create some images in PowerPoint and then copy/paste them into SL360... but that's been disrupted by them importing as svg format instead of png, like they used to. Why is this better?

Hi Carol - SVG's will normally be smaller in file size than the raster equivalent and will scale and stay clean however you want to use them. Like you point out, if you need to crop, apply effects, or change the images, you may not want to use SVG's in Storyline. Handy for the cases where you need a streamlined vector graphic that will stay clean at any scale.
