To answer your question, we really need to know...
What you are using it for (ie eCommerce)? How many users? What systems do you have in place that it will need to interact with?
If you aren't sure the answers, you might consider using Articulate Online until you know for sure. Getting the wrong LMS is like marrying the wrong person and almost as expensive.
In addition to Charles' questions, are you part of a company/organization that uses SharePoint? There are a few good LMSs that work in SharePoint.
On the flip side, if you're a small business or independent contractor, there are a couple of decent open source LMSs that can be installed on platforms like Joomla that you could implement for pretty cheap.
It’ll be tough to recommend an LMS without knowing more about your requirements.
However, GoSkills is a training solution for companies of all sizes. The platform is free, with optional premium upgrades that are priced on a sliding scale.
The free plan includes:
Course creation by linking to any content on the web Team creation and course assignment Goal tracking for learners Social learning Gamification Reporting and analytics
In order to upload your own standards-based courses (SCORM, xAPI) you can subscribe to the enterprise upgrade which allows you to create an unlimited number of courses, add your own custom branding, create and track classroom courses, create course categories, and be supported by a dedicated account manager.
With the free plan, you will be able to track time spent learning, course completion rates, and high performers, amongst other handy stats.
