When we've seen the decapitated characters it was always connected to the DPI setting. Did you restart after following all the steps? There are directions here for Windows 10 as well.
Are you seeing this only while previewing or viewing the published output or when you see the character on the slide stage as well?

I'll have her try that and let you know. When we made the changes, she did restart. I'll send her the link to the article and ask her to try it again.
This wasn't experienced on the stage, but was seen in Preview and Published.
