Working with states and hotspots

I have a table with two radio buttons that have hotspots. When the user clicks on the hotspots/radio buttons, based on their selection one of many states of the table will be displayed. This works perfectly for me. But after displaying a state, I need to let the user sort the data. As I've used states, I wonder if there is a way to add interactive objects like buttons, hotspots, etc on the states. Any ideas to fix this or a work around too will help a great deal, thanks.
