YouTube Embed Code Not Working
Apr 13, 2015
I am trying to embed a 6 minutes YouTube video however this error message is coming up: A video cannot be inserted from this embed code. Verify that the embed code is correct and try again.
The embed code is: <iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/2dtCz3OFcSM" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
And I do through Insert Video from Website.
Any suggestions on why this may be occurring would be appreciated.
Thank you

Hi Angela
I have just tried that and it works fine for me in SL1 and SL2. Are you working from your local drive?
Hi Angela! Looks like Wendy is assisting you here, but I did not have any difficulty either.
Thank you both for your reply.
Wendy, I saved my file on my local drive however the error was still occuring when I went to embed the video via insert video from website.
Leslie, I inserted a Web Object and opted to display in slide, but when I publish this to Tempshare to test, it is just a white screen. Do I have to opt to view in browser? Not ideal.
Thank you
Hi Angela - sorry it's not working for you. Just a couple of thoughts
I would try testing another youtube video to test the embed functionality. Also I've been reading on the web and some people have tried removing the http: or https: at the front of the url and reinserting it...and that worked for them.
There was also an article about an issue with a version of ppt and not being able to view embed code of a Youtube video - giving the same error message you were getting in SL. You aren't by any chance importing a ppt slide with the video on it?
Thanks Wendy, I have tried all of those things and I am still getting the same error message - seems a bit strange.
Also, I am copying the embed code directly from YouTube.
I have asked a colleague to see if they can embed the video in my file. So will see how that goes. I will also test this in another one of my SL2 projects.
Thank you
Just let us know Angela :)
Hi, I am having the same problem. I had a video on powerpoint which has not transferred to Articulate.
I have tried embedding the file but no luck.
What can I do!
Hi Shirena
YouTube recently changed their API and as such it's causing difficulty with inserting the embed code. You can read more about that here including some solutions. Ultimately you'll want to look at inserting it as a web object as described here.
Hi Ashley. Would you be able to reinsert the link you referenced about the API issues? Right now it points to the same link on inserting web objects. I am having the same issue as discussed in this thread. Neither the embed code nor the web oject are working.
Thanks.
Can you share the embed code or URL of the video that's not working?
Hi Adena,
That information is documented here.
Ashley, thank you for the link.
Michael, this is what I am trying to embed (from YouTube): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ge3EM8AERV0
Thanks!
Edit the URL to: https://www.youtube.com/embed/ge3EM8AERV0
Yes that worked, thank you very much!
