Youtube embedding with start and ending time

Jul 16, 2013

Hello,

We have managed to embed youtube video's but haven't been able to get the syntax right for starting a youtube video on a certain time frame.

We know so far that we can embed youtube code or work with a web object.

Within the webobject, adding starting and ending time in the youtube code works as intended, but we would like to use the embed code.

Here is the embed code that we have succesfully tested within a html page.

I have included both the "new"and öld"embed code, but somehow this doesnt work as storyline embed code:

(note that this code DOES work as webobject, but again, I prefer the embed codeway)

Can somebody give me a clue?

/NEWEMBED CODE

<iframe src="//www.youtube-nocookie.com/embed/kwHQNiU0IrQ?rel=0&start=17&end=25&autoplay=1" height="315" width="420" allowfullscreen="" frameborder="0"></iframe>

//OLD EMBED CODE

<object width="420" height="315"><param name="movie" value="//www.youtube.com/v/kwHQNiU0IrQ?hl=nl_NL&version=3&rel=0"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="//www.youtube.com/v/kwHQNiU0IrQ?hl=nl_NL&version=3&rel=0&start=17&end=25&autoplay=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="420" height="315" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true"></embed></object>

------------------------------

I have tried every alternative that can be found online, such as trying:#t=2m30s

after the youtube id, but nothing worked so far.

For ending time, we have found a solution.

Just use the storyline timeline.

Hi Adrian,

Thank you for your quick reply.

Additionally, could you perhaps tell me if "muting" a youtube video within an embed code is possible, or would this also be a request to make.

@ Rebecca.

A possible workaround could be to download the wanted youtube video and include it into the storyline file as a local video.

(make sure there is permission to do so)

kind regards.
