Zoom regions and feedback layers

Oct 10, 2013

Hi all

I have created an interactive Storyline software simulation.  I have added zoom regions (with 'show until end') into most slides as I am only working with a small section of the screen.  I have previewed the project which works well until an incorrect option is selected and the 'Try Again' layer displays.  Because the base layer is zoomed in most of the feedback message is off the screen.  Is there any way to edit the size and position of the try again message so that it displays fully in the zoomed region if an incorrect selection is made, or so that the window automatically adusts to full size?

Hi Dipal,

This thread is a bit older, so I'm not sure if Simone is still subscribed, but you can edit the feedback boxes by editing the feedback masters as shown here.

As for the zoom region, since it's zooming into the entire slide, you may see slide layer elements zoomed in as well so it'll depend on where you've placed those items on the slide and placed the zoom set up.

You may also want to reach out to Simone directly to see what she ended up doing, by  using the "contact me" button on her profile to see if she's able to share additional information with you as she may no longer be subscribed.

Hi Dipal

I didn't manage to resolve this issue - I actually went on maternity leave not long after posting this, and have not come back to the project.

I will be doing some similar software simulations soon and will have to come up with a solution.  I will definitely share if I come up with a workaround before you do.

Hey guys!  I had some spare time to work with this design challenge; it was a great exercise.  With some limitations on your zoom areas, you can create custom feedback masters that will show feedback dialogue at the right size, in the right spot, of your zoom regions!

In the demo below, I created a scene with a screen recording in try mode.  When inserting the zoom regions on certain slides, I concentrated on 4 areas to zoom: each corner of the slide.  That way, the learner still benefits from the increased legibility of the zoom area, and you, the author, don't have to overwhelm yourself with creating too many feedback masters.

Using the Feedback Master view, I inserted 4 custom feedback masters.  For each master, I shrunk the dialogue box and placed it in a different corner of the slide.

Under the Home tab for each slide, I selected the appropriate feedback master Layout for both the Correct and the Try Again layers.  For example, if my second slide zoomed in the upper left region, I chose the feedback master layout for the upper left region, remembering to do so for both feedback layers on the slide.

Take a look at my demo here.  Your "feedback" is welcome!  ;)
