Adding a game that is already created to a storyline that is already created. Hmmmmm

Oct 22, 2019

Okay, my situation is, I have a storyline file that I created, but - yes, there is always a but! The group that is to use the file, wants some games.  So I searched and found this wonder number game.  I added my information into the game and now I want to add the game to my existing .story. I was going about it like I would add any file, but it didn't quit go where I wanted it too.  I think it is because, there may be no way for the game to "move to the next slide" when it is finished.  I would like it to be like a pre-test, game. If that makes sense.  Is this where I could do a scene split?  I am still very new at this and I am learning as I go.  I have had an upgrade on my computer and lost the ability to view YouTube and that is where I was viewing a lot of the tutorials!  So I am trying to read my way through it.  Not doing to good, I am a show and do kinda girl!

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.

Hi, Lynda,

When you import slides from one Storyline (SL) file into another, the SL default has the "Insert into scene:" drop-down field set to "Same as imported project," which essentially creates a new scene based on the scene the slides are coming from. However, before you click the IMPORT button, you can adjust that field to have the slides imported into the current scene or into a new scene.

No matter where the imported slides end up in your SL file, you can rearrange them in STORY VIEW. Just drag them to where you want them to be.

As for what happens at the end of the game, you can set the trigger to go to the next slide, go to a specific slide, go to the next scene, or go to a specific scene.

BTW: How one uses scenes is a matter of programming preference. There are pros and cons to the different methods. As you get more experience, you'll figure out what works best for you.

:-)
