AStuido13 Survey Communication to LMS (Success Factors)

Jun 29, 2015

How do Surveys communicate with an LMS since they are non-scoring "quizzes".

Currently we have a two-part certification test.  Part 1 is standard multiple choice, t/f, etc.  Minimum score is 80%.   If they pass Part 1, then they can move on to Part 2, which is Essay.  We set up the essay questions as Survey questions because the client doesn't want them scored within the elearning.  They want the user to submit their answers, then be reviewed by their supervisor who will determine if they've passed the essay portion. They do not want the system to mark them as completed as they might think they've "passed" even though they may not have.  They want to have final scores/pass/fail entered manually.

In order to get the results of the essays in a SCORM report (now that the emailing feature has been removed), we were told we'd have to set up the publishing settings to be based on quiz results, use SCORM 2004, 2nd Edition and set the Reporting to LMS option to Pass/Fail.  Fine.  We did that, but our concern is that it will still mark them as either Pass/Fail in our LMS.  My thought is if it's an unscored survey, with 0 points per question, and no minimum score required, how does Articulate know if they've passed or failed?  How will it communicate with our LMS in this case, with these settings?  Will it say "pass" because they answered all the survey questions?  I've never done a survey before within an LMS so I'm just trying to figure how it communicates.  Ideally we'd like it to say "Incomplete" until we manually change it to complete once the Essay's have been reviewed.  Does that make sense?  We've come up with a couple work arounds that we are currently testing, but was wondering if anyone else has any information on how surveys communicate with an LMS, Success Factors in particular.

Thanks!
