Designing Before Storyline

Apr 26, 2017

Hi everyone,

I'm trying to build a portfolio of work and I'm using Storyline 360 for the first time. I've partnered with a non-profit who has a problem with internal control. This includes taking donations, handling cash, fund raising, etc. I'm designing a 30 - 60 minute eLearning course to teach these skills and procedures.

How do you guys design your eLearning before creating in Storyline?

I've made learning outcomes, interviewed the sponsor, and collected existing documentation. I also prototyped about 3 key learning events and had the sponsor approve them.

The problem I have is I feel the need to plan out each stage / slide of the eLearning before I start creating in Storyline. Starting Storyline with just a blank canvas is daunting.

Do you plan out each learning event / slide before creating in Storyline? Do you just start creating?

I've considering making a storyboard, but that seems pretty time intensive. Also, I've considered mocking up every slide using Balsamiq or even on paper, but that also seems time intensive. Thoughts?
