DTP / Articulate Specialist (based in Barcelona)

The position of Articulate / Desktop Publishing Specialist is a key player at Translations.com. This position reports to the Desktop Publishing Manager. You will be a part of a team of full-time and freelance graphic designers/typesetters. Through a mix of project management and hands-on desktop publishing, you will define, develop, and manage the client project lifecycle. In addition, you will assist your team with analyzing, and troubleshooting foreign language data to be used in publishing products.

Position responsibilities:

·         Manage production of desktop publishing (DTP) projects using Articulate, InDesign, Quark, and other desktop publishing applications

·         Perform daily hands-on DTP of multiple projects in coordination with Project Managers

·         Coordinate and communicate with other DTP Specialists, freelancers, DTP agencies, Project Managers, and other production team members, in various offices and time zones, to ensure project deadlines are met

·         Troubleshoot technical issues

·         Perform other special projects or duties when required.

Essential skills and experience required:

·         4-year degree from a university or college

·         Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment

·         Advanced skills with Articulate,  InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, QuarkXPress, Microsoft Office and other desktop publishing applications

·         Proficient in Mac and PC application

·         Superior written and spoken communication skills

·         Must be willing to learn new skills, be open to challenges and thrive on success

·         Work well with people from a variety of different backgrounds and cultures, build relationships with co-workers, work as part of a team, and commit to a high level of service

Valued but not required skills and experience:

·          Competency with Flash/ActionScript

·          Knowledge of a foreign language

·          Prior translation industry experience
