hi, i have just converted an After Effects animated icon into gif. It plays fine in various browser. But when imported it in Storyline, and preview it, the animation speed is alot slower. Any ideas?
storyline breaks the GIF sequence because its trying to compress it (again). My suggestion is replace the gif file in the published version with the original gif. make sure it has the same name as the published version
How did you create the gif? I usually export sequences and convert them in gif loops from Photoshop.
The program here refers to Storyline? or other programs. Video is also an option but that depends on what is needed. If it's only a small icon, IMHO its an overkill, but video loop on a background is good.
@jon if you publish the slide does it still breaks? preview in SL is not the best quality, try to publish it and see what happens
Sorry for not being clear. I mean Storyline. I used an online platform to make the gif. I agree with you about the video. Once I tried it with After Effects. Good solution but it took too much time to create since I don't know much about After Effects.
thanks for the feedback guys! given the time constraints of this project, i will have to leave the animated gif out, unfortunately. But will try the above recommendations for the next project.
I'm noticing a similar issue....I made a video in Premier, imported it in to Photoshop and saved as a GIF - the animation should complete in 12 seconds but it takes closer to 40.
Additionally, inserting the GIFs (I've got about 10 in there) has taken my zipped published course from 32mb to 324mb!

Hi Jon,
I don't know why but gif doesn't work properly with Storyline. I suggest you to import your icon as a video with transparent background in AE.

That's a good idea, but the program converts my gif file into swf.
