Help: I need a topic for my Master Research Project

Jun 06, 2013

I need help. I am a student currently interested in doing E-learning research but I have no idea what specific topic or subject matter I could decide for my research paper.

Any suggestions or opinions are welcome to share and will truly appreciate that.... Thank you!

Ali, I did a 10,000 word paper for my Masters on: "How far can different approaches toKnowledge Management be thought to reflect competing philosophical assumptionsabout the nature of knowledge? Critically review these different epistemologiesand explain what they might suggest for the theory and practice of KnowledgeTransfer."

and another 10,000 words on: "What might be included under the term ‘theories of practice’? Howmight such theories contribute to knowledge management? What contribution havethey made?"

I really enjoyed writing these essays because there's a whole heap pf philosophical questions in there to do with the  nature of knowledge and truth, leading to questions about knowledge transfer and pedagogy. Perhaps your topic could pick up on something like this, but with a nod towards elearning?

I would urge you very strongly to avoid topics that summarise the elearning industry and its approaches. It would be fine to look at elearning as a cultural phenomenon and to explore how it affects knowledge creation and curation. Just don't forget that your MA must have an argument at its core, so pick an area of elearning that you think is under-explored, under-utilised, or where e-learning producers are getting it wrong.

If you want to run topic ideas by us, please post them here and we can critique.

Best, Rich
