Learning Management Systems

Mar 25, 2014

Hi everyone,

We are currently producing a number of S.C.O.R.M-compliant courses with Articulate '09 (although we are seriously thinking of getting hold of Articulate Story-line for producing applications for mobile platforms etc). However, we have recently had a management decision and decided to change our existing Learning Management System as the current one has too many technical gliches.

The ones that we have been looking at are the following:-

  1. Coloni Ltd (http://www.coloni.net/)
  2. Webanywhere Ltd (www.webanywhere.co.uk)
  3. Blackboard.com
  4. CM Group (cm-group.co.uk)
  5. SumtotalSystems (sumtotalsystems.com)

We have also had a look at the likes of SABA but deemed them to be too expensive! Have any of you guys had

dealings with the aforementioned companies or could you recommend any others?

Thanks in advance!

Keith

We too have been looking at replacing our LMS provider. We have been looking into Cogentys, Intellum, Wisetail, SumTotal & Cornerstone. We have been finding large price differences in providers that seem to be offering the same services. Some of the major cost difference is appearing in the setup fees. (Out of those mentioned, SumTotal & Cornerstone were on the higher end)

Hi Keith,

We work with a range of client Learning Management Systems - it really does depend on your requirements as each offers something different. This isn't a recommendation but some of the other LMS products that we've used with are (in addition to the obvious candidates and those mentioned above):

https://www.coursesites.com

http://www.learnupon.com/

www.learningpool.com

Don't forget the brilliant SCORM reload player that you can use standalone for testing and playing SCORM packages: http://www.reload.ac.uk/scormplayer.html - Not many people seem to know about this!

Cheers,

Scott

Hi

Skillshub is a real decent LMS that creates personal learning journeys. It's one of the few platforms that enables you to subscribe to their own platform with content without you having to have your own platform which is pretty decent.

Check them out at https://www.skillshub.com

Another we have used is Cornerstone but they are a little too big and corporate and not for the smaller company. Great content but expensive
