May I have your view on this?

Jan 12, 2014

This is my first time using Storyline and attached is my first attempt at creating a scenario.

It is still work in progress. Intention is to create 5 or 6 scenarios.

Hope to have comments and feedback from forum members on my work.

Thanks to all in anticipation.

It would help if you could post on a web server and post a link.

There is not a lot there to review

My first thought are, some animation to build the scenario would help.

  • You need to rebrand the player to match your course, switch off the menu (or at least rename your slides).
  • The tick and cross are incongruent with the transparent black design you have, you could look at changing these.
  • Step away from the articulate font.
  • Do you need the resources tab?
  • Do you need the volume control?
  • Either have player buttons or not, it makes for a confusing navigation if you switch on each slide.
  • I think you could add something to the top of your slides instead of just the white slide, perhaps blend this with the player.
  • Space out your text a bitt better
  • Align the black transparent boxes in the same place on each slide, ensure they are distributed vertically and aligned correctly.

Appreciate your feedback, Phil.

Yes, I should post it on a blog and provide a link for feedback.

I will find out how to customise the player e.g. switching off the menus, rebrand, etc.), hopefully it's in one of the tutorials

Regarding point no. 2, what would be your suggestion to change it?

What would be a good font to use in this case?

You're right that I do not need the volume control and resources, I'll find out how to remove them

Good point on my inconsistency in having player buttons on 3rd slide and rest do not, I'll correct that

May I know how to blend the top of my slide (the white portion) with the player?

"Space out your text a bit better" means?

Last point is also my in consistency, I'll correct that.

What kinds of animation did you have in mind, can share?

Thanks for taking your time to review my work.

I hope I'm not troubling you too much with asking you to provide elaboration on your feedback as above.

Hi KT, you can turn off the menu, resources, volume controls etc in the player tab. Once you click the tab it is pretty clear how to turn these off. You can also change the player colors in the player tab as well.

Thanks, Nancy.

You are right!

Once I'm in the player tab, it's just unticking to turn them off

I have also managed to change the colour of the player

I am so grateful for everyone's help here.

Yoohoo! I managed to blend the white top portion of my slide with the player colour.

Choosing the background colour of my slide to match the player's Olive Green was not as simple as I thought.

In the end, I used this small app: ColorPix to pick up the RGB values of the Olive Green and insert the values to get Olive Green.

Thanks, Phil - it looked much better as you suggested

Hi Nicholas,

Thanks for your feedback.

The reason I include the menu on the left is because I thought it would be easier for the learner. For example, the learner wants to try the quiz again after he had already completed the course or maybe the learner wants to jump to any specific slide to learn again.

I'm not sure if this sounds logical.
