Published File Size in Studio 13

I recently downloaded the trial version of Studio Pro 13 for evaluation and one of the first items I looked at was rather shocking, and discouraging.  I took several Studio 09 files, some pure power point, some just engages and others a combo, and without changing anything, published them in Studio 13.  Lo and behold, the file size of the published product nearly doubled in every case.

Is everyone else who has looked at 13 experienced the same thing?  My main customer has a file size restriction and it was hard enough to do that in 09.  Unless there is something I'm missing, my job will actually be harder in 13.  Is there something I'm missing?
