Saying Hi and Wanted to meet friends and clients

Jul 24, 2012

Hi everyone

This is Chris Ilagan I just sign up here and hope to take part on some discussions, share what I know, meet friends and possibly clients.

As a Creative Director and Project Manager I lead a company who specializes on interactive online learning, brand marketing and website development. One of the reasons I registered is to find some work opportunities for my team. Can you suggest where I can start?

Thank you!

Hi Christopher and welcome to Heroes. Most of the business relationships that we see formed here are the result of building credibility and trust over time by participating in the community. It's not really the kind of place where folks join the community, find some work, and leave. There's much more of a community focus. We want course designers and developers to feel free to come here and share ideas & tips & advice without feeling like they're being solicited.

So really, the best way to demonstrate e-learning mastery and credibility is to just be a helpful member in the community, without expectation.

The people who find themselves receiving offers for contract opportunities are the ones who frequently help others by answering questions and giving assistance, with no agenda. For example:

So yeah, I just wanted to be candid in saying that if you're only interested in being here to prospect clients, this isn't really the place to do that. But if you're interested in participating in an e-learning community where people like to help each other improve their skills, develop great courses and share free tips & ideas & resources, we welcome that!

Hi Jeannette thanks for welcoming me. I do understand your point and I'm willing to share what I know Although I don't use Articulate as my main tool I can share on the areas like flash and actionscript, html5, course / graphics design, assets and feedbacks. I will check the links your posted.

Thanks also Andy and Patti.

Sounds great Christopher! And I think you'll definitely find a lot of opportunities to share knowledge about graphic design and the other topics you mention. In particular, the forum we're posting in right here (the General Discussion forum in the "Building Better Courses" section has frequent and lively discussions about a lot of these topics.
