You don't need nothing but mic access and a hidden iframe containing a script of, say, simple voice recognition or peak meter of sorts.
You could then pass on a trigger variable that fires up an event. For example you could turn all these boring compiance courses to simulations and use the power of your environment drive the "storyline" of your course. Imagine gamifying a 1st person clerk simulation and you say "next" everytime you want to proceed to the next customer (i.e.scenario).
Or voice recognition used to navigate around your course.
