There's a lot of strategies you can use to enhance the content. Before you build anything, I'd make a plan for what will go where. I always make storyboards so I know where content goes and how I'll present it. This will allow you to deliver the content in easily digestible chunks.
I'd also look for any opportunities to enhance the content with interactivities like drag & drops or a slider etc. I try to avoid just using interactivity for the sake of it; ideally it should work to reinforce the learning.
Also, if you can create an appealing look and feel graphically, the content may not appear so dull.
