.story files published to AWS freezing for some users

Hello,

We're hearing from some end users that our published .story files hosted in AWS are freezing. They are working fine for most users and we cannot create the issue when we test them ourselves. I am assuming the issue could be the user's network speed (slow connection) or throttling by the network administrator (users are on school networks) or maybe firewall settings - but I wanted to see if there were troubleshooting steps or advice for evaluating published files that freeze for only some users.

  • You'd have to check with S3 and see if they have recommendations.

On the Articulate side, you can do some things to make the files smaller. For example, in Storyline publishing you can play around with the quality settings and change the adaptive playback of videos. But if it's intermittent, most likely it is exactly as you noted.

    • endless "three dot animation" -> there is a known problem with safari and slides with video (should be solved with the current version)
    • three dot animation" + "offline message" with freezing the navigation - not solved, but you can disable the feature "connectionMessages"
