Add questions to longer video

Is there a way to add questions to a long video in Storyline like you can in Captivate? Basically I have a 45 minute video and I'd like to put a few question files in it to break up the time and ensure understanding. I know I could cut up the video and add question slides, but am looking to see if this is an option before I go that route.

Thanks,

Emily

  • Hi Emily,

Personally, I'd cut the video - I think that's faster and more reliable than my other suggestion.

You can also make sure the timeline has the exact same length as the video (it should have that by default) and then create cue points on the timeline. Once you reach a cue point you pause the video and have different question layers appear. If scoring them is a requirement you could probably get away with using a lightbox slide as your quiz question.

  • I agree with Michael that cutting the video is faster and more reliable, especially since such a long video takes time to load, so its timeline won't necessarily stay matched to the slide timeline.

Thank you both so much. I hadn't thought about load time, and you're right, cutting it will give a more stable experience to the learners. I appreciate it.
