AI Text to speech not updating closed captions

When I create a new AI text-to-speech file it adds captions just fine. *

But when I go to update that file on the timeline, even with the "generate CC" box checked, it still has the old captions.

If I delete the existing captions, re-generate the audio with the box checked, and save, no new captions appear.

What can be done about this?

Also, the AI generation doesn't honor SSML very well. I can't correct its pronunciation of certain words without writing the prompt phonetically, then manually changing the CC every time I update the script.

  • Hi AndrewKrahn

I understand that you're having difficulty when regenerating your AI TTS Audio as the captions do not update along with the new audio in Storyline 360. I get how confusing that must be! I can confirm that I am not experiencing this on my end, so I'm happy to learn more!

    • What voice are you currently using?
    • Do you notice any change if you do not manually delete the closed captions prior to audio regeneration?
    • Is this happening with any other projects or just this one?

As a troubleshooting step I'm curious if you are able to import any caption files ( Typically they are file types ending in .srt, .vtt, .sbv, and .sub files) when working in the latest version of Storyline 360 (Update 115).

I have also shared your feedback on SSML when working with AI TTS voices with our product team. We'll be sure to share any updates in the future regarding any updates. If you are using v3 we recommend rolling back the model to v2 for more accuracy

We'd be happy to take a closer look at your .story file within a support case if you are still unable to see closed captions for your re-generated audio.

Looking forward to hearing from you!

I haven't used this feature, but I feel your pain with captions and computer pronunciation.
