Blurry text and images during preview
In Storyline 3 text and Images (and characters) are blurry in the preview. When the course is published, the text and Images are a little bit clearer but not as clear as in Storyline 2.
I tried different things to fix this:
- my screen resolution on computer is lower than 100% (I set it down because I read that this could solve my problem – it's a little bit better but still blurry)
- I’m using Storyline 3 Update 5: 3.5.16548.0
- text and images are blurry (it doesn’t matter whether I copy and paste the image or insert as picture from file)
- sometimes not the whole text on a slide is blurry, sometimes in a list one aspect is clear to see (every aspect is in an own text box)
- Player size is "lock player at optimal size"
I hope you can help me to fix this Problem....
Hi Amaia,
Thanks for reaching out here and I see you shared some new details in your other discussion. At this point, I think it'll be best to have you work in a Support case to dig a bit deeper as I mentioned to Dorothy it's not an issue I've been able to recreate using a copy/paste functionality inside Storyline 3 or Storyline 360.
Our team has fixed some blurriness issues specific to the published output in Chrome, and that fix is currently available for Storyline 360 and will be in the next update of Storyline 3 (release date TBD). We'll let folks know here once that Storyline 3 update is ready!

Hi, I wasn't sure if I should start a new topic or piggyback on this one. I'm new to Articulate, so let me know if I did this wrong.
One of my graphics (for a button) suddenly became blurry in both the preview, and in the test I published to Review 360. The three buttons are all look perfect in the working template, they are all the same size and format etc, but once I preview, the first button becomes blurry.
I tried replacing the image with the original again, (which is a smart object saved as a PNG if that matters) but it is still blurry. I also tried reducing the image to the %100 size I'm using for the Storyline -- no change.
The attached screenshot is from the published .story file.
Any clues as to what's happening here? Thanks!Hi Maurie,
Welcome to Articulate, and I'm sorry for the trouble with the blurry images! It's all right to piggyback on this related discussion. I appreciate the troubleshooting steps you've already done and for sharing the screenshot of the problem. Please consider the list below if you haven't already.
If the issue persists, I'd be happy to look at your Storyline project and the affected images to investigate further. You can upload them here or privately in a support case. We'll delete it when we're done testing.

Hi I experienced the issue of blurry text yesterday. When I removed the Animations (Fade In/Fade out) it went away. When I reapplied the Animation, the text looked sharp, no more blur.
Hello, Jessica. Thanks for letting me know what you're seeing. We have an open issue with the desktop preview being blurry in Storyline 3 and with blurry published output in Google Chrome. Is Chrome where you're viewing your published output?
I'm going to add your discussion to our reports so we can keep you updated on these issues in this discussion.

I'm having this same issue. The image looks clear and crisp in SL 3, but when I preview it looks blurry and when I publish it looks blurry. I've tried a number of enhancements of the image, but they all go blurry when publishing.

Preview has been blurry every since I installed SL3 update 6 this week. Here's how bad it is:
Okay, it's a bit hard to tell when looking at this image reduced. But, even so, it's still possible to see the difference in Atsumi and in the image of the stopwatch.
FYI: The published screenshot was viewed in IE. If I open it with Chrome (at 100%), that looks blurry like Preview.
Thanks, Judy and Beth for reporting this. We're seeing some similar behavior in Storyline 3, and it matches what a few folks had run into in Storyline 360 as well. Luckily, we've reported this to our team, so we'll keep you posted here as soon as we have more details!

We are having same issue... it seems like this had been a problem in earlier versions of Storyline, then was fixed and things looked sharp, but now they are back to soft. Thank you for working on this - it is pretty significant if users are viewing on a larger screen.
Hi Natalie,
What version of Storyline are you using?

Hello Storyline team,
We are having the same issue about blurry images (screenshots) and we second Judy that the screenshots in published version are very blurry and if viewed in Chrome, it is also very blurry. We are also using the latest Storyline 3 update 6.
Please report to the Dev team and get this fixed soon.
Thanks.
Hi Grace!
We're targeting to release a fix for the blurry images issue you're seeing in Chrome in the next update of Storyline 3. Stay tuned – we'll let you know when that fix is released!
