Broken variables

Hello,

I am currently creating a Storyline eLearning that as of yesterday, decided that variables do not need to work. They are worked before yesterday and I have made zero changes to the eLearning for those items. I noticed that there was a update available so thought that perhaps the update was for a fix with variables but no luck. I've shut down/restarted my computer to ensure any updates "took"...any ideas? I find it very odd that they just stopped working but this isn't the first time this program has done this either.

What I'm finding is that existing variables, along with their triggers, are not functioning as designed. What I am currently doing is deleting them and identically remaking them...suddenly they work. There is no reason that should occur, but this isn't the first time that fix worked for me either. If you have any insight as to why I should need to do this, I would appreciate it. Perhaps it's something on my end with my system, but that far outside of my wheelhouse.

  • Hi, Leah.

Thank you for the additional information!

Are you working from a local hard drive? We don't recommend working with files on a network drive as it can cause erratic behavior. If it's a local drive, but also syncing with a service such as OneDrive or Dropbox, it can cause a similar effect as a network drive.

Is this happening on a specific course, or are you noticing this behavior in multiple projects?
