Can a user restart a Rise course?
Hi all,
Just wondering if there is a way to enable users to restart a course that was built in Rise 360 (similar to the prompt in Storyline to Resume or Restart a course).
Many thanks

I would also like too add my vote the this feature request. We are looking to add training to our additional training section of our Web portal where courses are designed to be used initially as a new skill but also will be available 24/7 as a refresher training, without the user being able to reset the training it will not effectively act as a refresher especially if the course have a limit to assessment attempts as it won't allow them to sit the assessment again once the have used all their attempts.

I would also like to vote for this feature request. Actually, it seems like there are two slightly different but related features being requested: 1) Disable allowing learners to resume Rise courses, 2) Adding a way to reset progress in a Rise course. I'm actually more interested in #1, but #2 seems like it would be useful, too. :)

Hi Eric,
Are you using your Rise courses inside a LMS environment?

Yes

Adding my vote for this functionality. I posted a course in Rise, and am testing on SCORMCloud. In the testing process, I fail the final assessment 2x, which is the maximum. I want to now test what happens if I pass the course, and guess what; I cannot do that test because Rise will not reset progress. Help!

This is such an important requirement. There are multiple situations where it's necessary to allow the user to restart a course that's either completed or in progress in an LMS. Even simple pre-launch testing of a course in the LMS can't be efficiently done without the option of the tester being able to restart or resume to test various aspects of a course.
People have also mentioned allowing users the ability to go back and review a completed course. This is something that is sometimes mandated when there have been compliance violations, for example. Going back to the LMS administrators to reset a course isn't scalable or flexible.
This functionality works perfectly in Storyline and, for my organization, is pretty much essential if we are to use Rise for anything but non-essential training.
Please add my name to the list of requesters for an update.

Any ETA when this feature will be added?
Hi, Jazmin. We don't have plans to change the resume functionality of Rise 360 courses. They'll always resume from where the learner left off. Depending on your navigation settings, learners will be able to start over or click to view previously completed lessons.

Hi Crystal. Can you clarify what navigation settings are necessary to allow a learner over a previously completed Rise course? For example, when someone has successfully completed a Rise course in an LMS and, at a later date, wants to review again as a refresher.
Hi Brett, sorry for the delay in responding. If your navigation settings include the sidebar menu, or if you have navigation buttons enabled, your learners could revisit previously viewed content. Whether your LMS treats this as a new attempt is controlled by the LMS settings.

If the learner reaches the limit for the number of attempts at a knowledge check they are completely stuck. The "retry" button should change to a "retake course" button, not just disappear. This is an urgent need.

Hi Steve,
Assuming that a "retake course" button was available, that would allow the learner to take the Quiz again up to the limit of tries set.
However, they would be able to use the "retake course" button over and over and keep resetting the number of quiz tries.
So why not give them unlimited quiz tries now?

The retake course button would reset the restricted navigation so they would have to start at the beginning and review all of the content again.

This doesn't reset the knowledge check, however.

NASBA requires that for nano-learning to offer CPE credit, a learner must pass the quiz with 100%. If a learners scores less than 100% they must retake the module before attempting the quiz again. Please tell me how this basic requirement in course design can be achieved in Rise given all the information in this thread and the limitations of this tool? Thanks!

Hi Artur! How about keeping your Navigation buttons enabled so learners can go back through previously viewed content? Then you can set your passing score to 100%.
By default, quizzes have unlimited retries. They can go back to the content in the course and then retry the quiz again until they pass it.

Thanks for the response Hazel. It's not a matter of allowing users to go back throw the content again (that can certainly be done), but rather requiring them to complete the module again BEFORE attempting the assessment again. This would require a reset of the course so that topics appear "unattempted" and the user cannot navigate freely through them and must complete them again in sequence. The assessment score and attempts would need to be retained on each attempt.
Hi Artur,
Thanks for that explanation! Right now, Rise doesn't have a feature that would require the learner to retake the entire course if they fail the assessment.
However, your LMS may allow you to reset a learner's progress, so they'll have to start over from the beginning. I would recommend reaching out to your LMS administrator to find out if you have that option.
