Hi all, Just wondering if it is at all possible to have multiple correct drop targets for a drag item. What I am trying to do it to get students to label questions (there are 5) with the correct strategy for solving them (there are 3 strategies). So... I have 5 drop targets and multiples of each of my 3 labels and I can't seem to make it work. Has anyone done something similar? All help, suggestions and advice welcome Thanks, Jacquelyn

Hi Jacquelyn, As Ashley said, default Drag and Drops are relatively restrictive. Perhaps a Pick One simulating a drag and drop will meet your needs. I created an instructional video a while back: Drag Drop - Multiple Drags with Multiple Targets. Here's the description: Articulate Storyline users sometimes feel constrained by the default Freeform Drag & Drop quiz, which limits us to 1 drop target per drag item. In this tutorial, I describe how to overcome this drawback using a Freeform Pick One Quiz.

Danilo, Check this sample. If any two of the yes answers are dropped on any of the small circles, it is correct.

There is at least a slight possibility you might be able to make this work if you are absolutely certain the learner will solve it using a certain order of steps. At the beginning, make visible only the "10" that will be used first and after it is dropped, make the next one visible. All in all, that sounds pretty iffy to me, but you might make it work. If it doesn't, here is a sample that allows multiple objects to be dropped on multiple targets. It is set to allow only one object per target.

Specifically: Here are some things to bear in mind as you select drag items and drop targets: Each drag item can be matched to only one drop target. However, each drop target can be assigned to more than one drag item (i.e., you can drop multiple items into the same target). There may be some community workarounds that you could implement, so I hope someone in the community is able to share here with you!

Two things: I couldn't get it to drop right because the items only drop on correct drop spots. Maybe you want it that way, but if you don't you need to make the incorrect targets potential targets. If you create a regular drag and drop, you can identify which objects are potential drop targets. The only way you can do that using another kind of slide is to identify potential drop targets in a trigger. So I copied the triggers and changed them "Change state to Drop Incorrect" if person is dropped on wrong target. That way the person can be dropped on any target. The other thing is that you were dropping them on groups. I used a group in SL once, and it worked the way I wanted. I think it was in 19... No, wait. I'm thinking of another program, Maybe ... Well, it doesn't matter; the point is that groups don't work in SL. Pretty much you can use groups, or you can have triggers and states that work, but not both. In the attached sample, I changed two of the groups to rectangles with words on them, and two of them to text boxes with a color fill. I would suggest that you can't tell by looking at them which is which, and you can't tell by looking which slide has the groups, and which has the rectangles and text boxes. You can tell them apart when you preview them; the one without the groups is the one that works.

Oh that makes complete sense about needing a trigger for this one, even in the normal state. It didn't cross my mind! Thank you for clarifying and helping me! I noticed you did drop incorrect state.

As far as the rectangles go, did you just add a shape to the exterior of the slide? I saw her buttons on the demo, but it looked like hers appeared there because of the Pick One? Wondering for next time.

Yes, since this is a Pick One, you need the rectangles (or something) to pick to make it work. There are a lot of ways to do it. but just creating them off the stage may be the easiest. Making them a Button Set saves the trouble of deselecting one of them, and setting one to an initial state of Selected means you won't get an Invalid response message.

hi, I managed to follow instructions from Rebecca Fleisch Cordeiro's video and created a drag & drop question where 2 of the options could be used in a different order. The result works perfectly apart from when I add it into a Question Bank.

The attached file shows 1 example with just the question and a result slide and one example where the question sits in a Q bank. Anyone any ideas why the Question bank does not pick up the correct result?

(ps, the correct answer should be: 'When administering medication you need to check you are giving the right medicine to the right person at the right dose (or time) at the right time (or dose) and via the right route.

  I tested it and found that the 'Drop Correct' states were not working properly for the question slide found inside the question bank. This could possibly be due to data corruption as recreating the state (Custom state in the attached project file) allowed the question slide to function as expected.
  
  I've attached a fixed copy of your project file that now uses a custom state instead of the 'Drop Correct' state. If you run into this issue again, you can try creating a custom state to see if this will help address the behavior.

Perhaps the easiest way is to create Dropped Correct and Dropped Incorrect states that are duplicates of Normal state, and set the DandD option to show drop state immediately. Then on each object, show the Submit button (previously hidden) if each of the other states is Drop Correct or Drop Incorrect.

  Thanks for you quick reply! That sounds good, but of do I write a trigger to show the submit button if each of the other states is Drop Correct or Drop Incorrect ? It seems like I have to choose betweem the two, but I need the "or"...

    if the state of each of the other drag objects is Drop Correct or Drop Incorrect.

    Since they cannot be two states at the same time, the and won't work for you.Once they are dropped, they change to either Drop Correct, or Drop Incorrect. The or option is what you want.

It should be random suits to be dropped.
