Rise Course - Random Red Dot won't go away

Hey everyone, I have never seen this before and I'm not sure how to get rid of it.  I have a random red dot that showed up on the cover page of my Rise course yesterday.  I've tried everything and can't figure it out.

  • Hi Christine! So sorry to hear that you have a random red dot on the cover page of your Rise course.

Can you try viewing your course on a mobile device to check if the dot is consistently there?

It seems to be on screens that are landscape.  It's showing on the white part of the screen and not on the actual image.

It seems that the red dot is part of the image.

The dot looks awfully similar to a click of the Paintbrush tool in Photoshop.

Thanks for the information. Would it be ok to share with me the file you used as your Cover Photo?

It was fixed!  There was an issue with the image.  Thank you everyone!

  • When I upload my logo to the cover page, there are dots on one of my colors. It's a clear pattern; I think it's how Rise is reading the color of the PNG, as it's fine in my preview. I used RGB in illustrator. Any ideas?

Iain, the dots you see is known as 'dithering' where the image is being compressed with a limited color palette to make the file size smaller (and quicker to load for your users.) To avoid this, you could try saving as an SVG out of illustrator, or save as png using _NOPROCESS_ in the filename to avoid any image compression, some discussion on this trick here:
