Courses with LMS Reporting set to Completed/Incomplete return a grade of "failed" even if course was passed

We are having issues migrating from Cornerstone to Workday Learning, and I understand Workday Learning uses the Scorm.com scorm engine. The issue is that all of our courses, which are built in Articulate Rise or Storyline, were published with LMS Reporting set to report Completed/Incomplete. However, when the same scorm package is uploaded to Workday Learn and tested, the LMS reports a Grade of failed even though there is a passing score. I tested one of these courses in the SCORM cloud and it shows a Success status of “failed”, even though Completion Status is “complete” and there is a passing score.

Has anyone else run into this? While setting LMS reporting to Pass/Incomplete or Pass/Fail fixes this issue, I’m hoping there is an LMS setting that can be set because re-scorming all of our courses is not really a viable option at this time.

  • Hi Kevin,

Great idea opening a case! I see you've connected with my teammate, Lejan and told him you have already found a solution.

Let me know if I can assist with anything else!

Thanks Eric, We fixed the issue by coming at it from another direction. We edited the manifest file to force a rollup to SCORM 2004 4th edition.

  • Thanks for sharing the solution that worked for you, Kevin! That's really smart, as SCORM 2004, 4th Edition works better in reporting success statuses than lower LMS standards!

I'm sure other community members will find this thread helpful. Enjoy the rest of your day, and happy developing! 🙂

Hi! I'm running into this issue. Can you let me know what the resolution was? I tried 4th edition and didn't have success.

      Hello Haleigh!

I'm happy to help make sure that your course is reporting as it should! Great call on using SCORM 2004 4th edition as a starting point. From here, I have two recommendations that will help us see what is interfering with the completion and success statuses.

      • First, I'd recommend using different completion and success statuses to see if that makes an impact.
      • Second, I'd encourage you to test your course on a different LMS like SCORM cloud. If the course works as expected in SCORM cloud, then it is likely an issue within your LMS rather than the project file.

If altering the completion and success statuses, and testing the course in SCORM cloud don't make a difference, do you mind sharing a copy of your .story file here or in a support case?  We'll test it on our end so that we can determine next steps!
