Does "Resize browser to fill screen" equal full screen?

I am working  with a client that uses SABA.  We want our course to open full screen in a new Window to hide the SABA communication layer.  In the player we have selected : "Resize browser to fill screen" and "Scale player to fill browser window".

In SABA we assigned a SABA Player to open in the course in a new window and exclude any SABA Player controls.  Yet none of the courses open full screen.  They open so the course fills the screen top to bottom, but not fill the entire screen.

Wondering if SL is behaving as expected.  Thanks

  • Hi Ronald!

You'll see extra space on the right and left sides of the player when the aspect ratio of your Story Size does not match the aspect ratio of your computer screen.

For example, if the slide aspect ratio is 4:3 and the computer screen aspect ratio is 16:9 (widescreen), the slide will expand to fill as much of the screen as it can without stretching or skewing the content.

If you think most learners will view the course on a wide screen or on a mobile device, you may want to try a 16:9 aspect ratio.

  • Alyssa-  We are not concerned right now with the mobile experience.  We are ok with the extra space because it will hide the communication window from Saba.

Our concern is that users will close the Saba communication layer before they finish the course.  This then causes a support ticket, why didn't my completion update I completed that course and upset employees who did not screen shot their completion.  We transition LMSs and we trying avoid the support calls and give employees confidence in system.

Hi Ronald.  So it sounds like the users can still see and access the Saba layer, where they may inadvertently close the LMS window.  HTML5 output doesn't fully support the setting to resize the browser (see Player - Other), so depending on the browser they're using and whether they're viewing HTML5 output, the course may not fill the window.

Is it possible to open the course in the same window?

  • Hi Ronald,

I have some great news to share! We just released a really cool feature that allows you to add a player toggle to let learners view courses in full-screen mode.

To take advantage of this update, launch the Articulate 360 desktop app on your computer and click the Update button next to Storyline 360. You'll find step-by-step instructions here.
