How to add text boxes to video in Articulate Rise

Is it possible to add text boxes to videos in Rise 360? If not, can you insert an mp4 file into a Storyline slide and add text boxes to display at certain times in the video? If so, how? And then to put this into Rise, how do you export the video with text boxes as a Storyline block?

  • Here's a tutorial on how to do with PowerPoint and Storyline.

If you have PowerPoint, it may be a little faster.

    • Insert the video into PowerPoint
    • Add text boxes over it
    • You can set timing in PowerPoint
    • Save as MP4

    For Storyline:

    1. Create a slide that's 16x9
    2. Insert the video
    3. Insert text
    4. You can edit them in and out using the timeline
    5. Publish as video

Whatever you publish will be a single video and then you can insert that into Rise as a video.

Keep in mind that neither PowerPoint nor Storyline are designed to be video editors. :)

Thank you Tom Kuhlmann, this is such an easy solution! I forgot that one can insert videos into PPT.

Sounds like a job for Closed Captions, text that appears at certain time codes. Could you just use closed captions?
