How to hide closed captions in video publish?

I'm working on a project that will be published as a video. The video will be uploaded to a video player, and I will upload the CC file, so the learner can toggle captions off or on.

I've been adding closed captions in Storyline, and I love that Storyline now publishes the .vtt file. However, the video output now displays the captions within the video, and I don't see any way to disable this. Am I missing something?

Thanks!

  • When you publish a .story (with captions) as a video, the output folder should include the .mp4 and the .vtt file. It shouldn't have captions embedded in the video. If you're seeing captions in the video, I'd assume that the video player is reading the file in the folder and you probably have a setting in the player to show or hide captions.

If you want to share an example of the video with captions in it, we can look at it.

  • Thanks Tom...that's exactly what's happening. When I move the .vtt file from the output folder, the player no longer displays the captions. I appreciate the explanation!
