Is Articulate extremely slow after the latest Windows update?

Hi,

Is it just me? Or have other people had serious lag time using Rise and Storyline after the latest Windows updates?

Trying to get the preview to play, hitting spacebar, adjusting CC on audio and video files, and even just opening Storyline or Rise is taking really long.

I'm trying to figure out if this is an issue with my laptop or a wider issue.

Thanks!

No. I stopped doing that years ago. Not worth the headaches. I'm running Windows 11 on my company's Dell Laptop.

I was not smart enough to open Task Manager to see what it was saying. I`ll do it next time. I think it`s a Windows problem, though. Some random delays with Windows and Office are now occurring as well. Thank you for your advice.

  • Do you have any missing fonts. I find on some machines missing fonts makes it run like a dog. Only thing I have left to help on this.

No, but I think it`s a Windows problem. Thank you for your advice. I appreciate it.

One thing I have noticed with the recent Storyline 360 update (2/23) is that when I start Articulate Storyline on my desktop, it seems to get stuck in the "Reading Preferences" phase for about 5 minutes.  Storyline does get going, but it's taking longer than before.

Quick update: Storyline is starting up just fine now.  Not sure what the problem was, but there were a couple of other software updates these last few days that may have helped.

This is happening to me every time I try to open any SL file! It's very annoying! I asked ChatGPT how to fix, no solutions Chat gave me helped at all.

      Did you find a remedy?

Several hard resets to my laptop helped. Sorry, I don't have a better solution.

  • I am having the exact same issue.  Tried uninstall and reinstall with no luck; issue persists.

Thanks for sharing this update, mdhahm! I'm glad to hear that software updates did the trick.

LaurenDuvall Update: The startup problem with "Reading preferences" step has come back again.  Not sure why this is happening!

  • I am getting this issue too. It is soooo slow to open. and is stuck on the Reading Preferences screen.. Tried uninstalling and reinstalling with no luck. It opened after 15 minutes but when closed the same thing happened again. I feel your pain mdhahm

Try clearing your Recent list. I found that when a previously opened project is moved, deleted, renamed, or if you accessed a project on a network by accident, it seems to have slow the loading time. That solve the issue for me.

Was experiencing the similar slow "reading preferences" issue myself. Waiting the 5 minutes for it to load, then clearing the "recently loaded" Storyline files solved it. Thanks for the tip!

I have also been having this issue since the last update, and raised a case. I uninstalled then reinstalled an older version, which works fine, so that I can finish my current project.

I'm getting the slow response in Rise also. To make things worse. the nice British female Oracle AI voice has turned itself into a female North American voice, so I'm stumped and can't go forward unless I change all my earlier audio.

    • Hi JoeDey,

      That sounds frustrating!

I've created a support case on your behalf so our support engineers can take a closer look at this issue. They should be following up with you via e-mail, shortly!
