Master slides not accepting custom font style

I am trying to create an accessible slide template that reflects my company branding. I can create various custom font styles on the master slide layouts, but when I apply them, the font reverts to its original formatting, although it says that the style is applied. The appropriate formatting does not appear on the masters, nor does it appear on the regular slides.

I have tried this both from a Storyline file on a local drive and on One Drive. I am attaching a file created on my C Drive. You can see I created a style called H2 Dark. You can see what it is supposed to look like in the style selector. You can see on the ribbon that it is applied as a style. However, it does not display properly on the actual slide or master slide.

Any ideas about what I am doing wrong?

  • Hi Christine,

If you apply H2 Dark to the parent slide in the slide master, it will apply your H2 Dark down to all the layouts. But because those default layouts pull from the master slide, they are inheriting its properties. You can delete the placeholder text that's there and replace it with a new text box that isn't inherited from the master. Here's a quick Peek explaining!: https://360.articulate.com/review/content/33146a3d-ccbf-4770-aa6c-d1f2b80c5ca7/review

  • Thank you so much! This was indeed my problem. Everything works perfectly now that I am properly editing the slide master.
