Mouse Pointer Keeps Disappearing
Is anyone else experiencing the ghost mouse pointer? I use a touch screen to develop even more rapidly than usual. Don't know if I'm just going to fast or what, but randomly the mouse pointer turns to invisible. It still functions, but you can't see it. It is at this point I am solely reliant on the touch screen. The only fix is to close Storyline and then re-open it. Unfortunately there are times/tasks in Storyline when the mouse pointer is absolutely necessary such as in some drop down menus etc., so it's at this point I must save > close > reopen.
I've been pushing for a more touchscreen friendly environment with Articulate. Of course they cannot tell what's coming so I just keep wishing.
Anyone?
Thanks.

Hello! I've recently started at a new company and was issued a Dell Inspiron 15 3000 2-in-1 with touchscreen running windows 10, and I have experienced the same issue with ghost pointer- I'm running at about 9gb RAM usage with only storyline 360, and my required system programs, Skype for business, dropbox, and outlook open. I am not allowed to close those other programs.
I also find that the mouse pointer disappears but when I hover over any button on the screen it highlights and I can guess where the pointer is, but it makes working on anything nearly impossible.
Should I request a non- touchscreen computer, or is this something that will be fixed?

Was this issue ever fixed? I am having the same issue. I have a surface boot 2 and when I previous a course for a mobile device, I swipe the screen to progress my slides and the cursor disappears.
Hello Steven!
Thanks for checking in on this bug! We're still seeing an error with the mouse cursor disappearing when using a touchscreen monitor on variables panel in our latest update; Storyline 360 Update 40 (Build 3.40.22208.0).
I don't have any updated information to share about a fix. We are currently prioritizing other bug fixes for upcoming releases so we'll report back to this discussion when this makes it on the roadmap.

Hi. I am having the same issue using a Wacom Intuos Drawing Tablet. Life would be so much easier if this issue was solved

Just happened to me as well.
I do use a convertible laptop (touchscreen and keyboard), but have been only using the keyboard and mouse to develop the course. When I went to preview it, I used the touchscreen to test for usability. When I was done previewing, I close preview to make additional edits and my cursor was gone.
I'm using a Dell XPS 2-in-1.
Hope that helps!
Thanks for sharing these details! I'll update our report with your comments.

I popped into this thread because I'm a Mac user looking for a lower budget PC laptop for Storyline projects. I am considering a 2-in-1 like the Lenovo Flex 5, but if the disappearing cursor is still an issue, then I would go for a traditional laptop.
The disappearing cursor doesn't seem to be a problem limited to Storyline. Owners of 2-in-1 laptops have had this issue with general use. One thread suggested trying CTRL + ALT + DEL to get the cursor to reappear. Another suggested making sure the touchpad driver is up to date. Yet another suggested that the touchpad simply needed to be reactivated.
Can anyone who has had this problem confirm whether these or other solutions can fix it?

Hi Jennifer,
After preview, the cursor works in other applications / windows i.e. IF I have Chrome or my email open, I can easily click into those and navigate with the mouse showing, it just doesn't show in Storyline after returning from preview to the slide view.
I did try CTRL + ALT + DEL, but it didn't work for me. I don't think the touchpad will be the issue, as it works on other applications.
Would be great to have a solution to this as it's really frustrating and time consuming to have to close and relaunch Storyline each time, just to see the cursor again to be able to navigate!
Hopefully Articulate will be able to address this!

Hi there.
I've experienced this issue frequently. I found that if I delete the mouse and then re-add it, it has worked. Not saying it will always work but it has worked for me.
Cheers.

This also keeps happening to me with an HP notebook that has a touch screen.
Quite annoying since each time this happens I have to close the software and open it again ... - JacquiGrangerCommunity Member
Hello, I also have this problem, immediately after previewing my topic. I have a Lenovo ThinkPad, which I sometimes use the touch screen on. When I go back into slide mode, the areas highlight where I'm assuming my mouse it, but I can't actually see it. I have to shut down Storyline and restart it.
Wondering if you have found any solution as yet?
Many thanks.

Jacqui,
I started this discussion over two years ago and still experience this issue when using Storyline. There were some suggestions made (see Jennifer Sutcliffe from 6 months ago) that I have not tried. Mostly, I'm in Rise anymore, where this issue is non-existent.
Best of luck.
Doug
