    Dear all,

I used to upload Rise contents using Tin Can Api but since last Friday, my system appears to be no longer able to read the zip file created by Rise. Did you experience such issue? Any idea to fix it?

    Regards,

  • Hi Erick,

Are you seeing a particular error message? If so, could you share that here with us? We did release an update to Rise last week that was specific to Tin Can API, so that may be connected to what you're experiencing. Knowing a bit more about that error message would help us track it down!

    Hi Ashley,

There is no specific message but just :

This file type is not supported.

when I try to upload the zip file generated by the export using the Tin Can option on Rise.

    Best regards

  • Hi Erick,

What LMS are you using? Have you also tested it at SCORM Cloud? I was able to successfully upload a sample Rise course there that I exported with Tin Can API - so I'd want to know if your version also works there. If not, perhaps something is occurring as a part of the export/saving process?

If it does work at SCORM Cloud, you'll want to reach out to your LMS admin about the course and how you should upload it to work correctly.

  • Hey Cass! We're working on that feature now. While I don't have an ETA to share at this point, I can say it's coming soon!

And yes, that feature will cover all LMS outputs: SCORM 1.2, SCORM 2004, AICC, and Tin Can.

sooo, over 4 years now ... is this even still on a roadmap anywhere?

  • I am at an important time, launching content in my LITMOS LMS.  I see that scorm still has the reporting advantage of passed/incomplete, failed, complete/incomplete complete failed when exporting.

I noticed this has been on the road map for 11 months, if I want that reporting, should I export in 1.2? I would prefer to use the latest api.

  • Thanks, Katie (and to your team) for this update and enhancement! Will be very useful in continuing to adopt Rise and track analytics on the LMS side of things.

Hi there! Is there any way (or will there be a future enhancement) to capture xAPI data on learner interactions via xAPI statements? We are glad we can package for xAPI and we'd love to track the engagement and usage data in a similar way as we do for Storyline 360. Thank you for your help!

Hi there, Julia. The xAPI (aka Tin Can) output of Rise 360 sends essentially the same data as SCORM output. Could you share how you're currently extending that capability with your Storyline xAPI output?

This is pretty comical but it just makes me want to cry. Not sure how such important innovations to the eLearning industry such as this get overlooked time and time again by Articulate. This is the perfect example of why eLearning gets such a bad name with those required to take it and especially for those of us that develop it. The comment above (albeit 3 years ago) "The xAPI output of Rise 360 sends essentially THE SAME DATA as SCORM output" is simply heart-breaking. Then "why" even include the feature if it doesn't advance the platforms use in the industry? Why? This is not the only high priority feature that Articulate seems to overlook time and time again. Please read your users comments and stop replying with the canned statement of "Please submit that feature request to our team"! Be transparent and help US to help YOU in promoting your product .... please!

Is there a timeline for when xAPI will have full capabilities with Rise like it currently has with Storyline?

Thanks so much for your interest! We don't have information on that yet, and we'll update this discussion if we do make any changes.
