Numbering the order of scenes & publishing to Word

Two fold question about scene numbering:

  1. Renumber scenes?
Is there a way to renumber scenes logically? After several iterations I have a file that sequences from scene 1 to scene 7 to scene 3 .... you get the drift.  How do I renumber the scenes to a logical number sequence?  (other than creating a new SL file and copying scenes and updating triggers)
  2. Output order to Word
The client wants to receive a hard copy every day, to verify changes. Publishing to Word outputs the scenes in numerical order, not in the arranged order of scenes/topics.  Is there a manifest to get publishing in Word to follow the true arrangement of the course?
  • Hi Jerrie,

I thought I'd start by sharing the information here on how Storyline determines scene numbering. In regards to renaming or ordering them, you could do so within the player menu either manually or using the "reset from story" button.

There is not a way to change the order in which they slides appear within the publish to word, although renumbering them would accomplish this as well.

      Hi Ashley.
I'm always pleased to get your responses. :)
Numbering the menu items did not change the published Word document. I'll work around it - it's not a show stopper, just a nuisance.

Sidebar: one of my favorite characters in a Robert McCloskey story is called Miss Terwilleger. She outsmarts everybody.
"It was no secret that both the sheriff and Uncle Telemachus wanted to marry Miss Terwilliger.

  • Hi Jerrie,

So funny - I meet other people who know Terwilliger's all the time, and I wouldn't expect it to be a common name. I wonder where he got the name for the story...

In regards to the Word publish, it seems a lot of users have found some other ideas and workarounds based on this thread.

  • Hello everyone!

Good news! Today, we just released Storyline 360 Update 67 (Build 3.67.28569.0) which included a new feature where you can easily renumber scenes in story view so they appear in the order you want.

Now all you need to do is update Storyline 360 in your Articulate 360 desktop app!
