Rise and adding Audio
I'm playing around in Rise and I cannot see a way to add audio. Is this not possible? Currently I'm looking at an Image and text, but I would want to add audio to almost anything. This would be highly disappointing.

Can I please request a feature where we can add audio to any area that has text inside Rise?
This request is made to enable us as teachers to explain the content and add additional explanation to further explain the written content and put it into context if needed.
For example in accordions or tabs there would be a play button for students who have an auditory learning style instead of reading, where they can listen to the text being read to them and follow along.
Inside our LMS (Moodle), besides audio buttons from trainers, we also use Read Speaker technology that reads the text as it highlights it: https://www.readspeaker.com/
Audio does not need to be auto, but is definitely needed to accommodate additional learning styles and learning impairments.
Storyline does this well, but is heavy on development time and I think this addition would greatly add value to Rise to allow it to become a superior learning experience for our students.
The current audio buttons are good, but audio also needs to be played from inside text areas, such as accordions, tabs etc to keep it relevant to the text being displayed.
I can see that this issue has been raised for sometime now.. As a teacher of adults, I only see this as adding value. At the moment Rise is missing this important feature.
Happy to pay more for storage if needed.
I have submitted a feature request.

I second this request! Has there been any development on adding audio in accordions, tabs, etc.

Add me to the list of people that would love this feature. I would prefer to have both options of auto play, and non-auto play.
Several people in our organization speak english as a second language. Reading can be tough, but having someone narrate that content is extremely helpful to them understanding the important information. I love this option in Storyline. I LOVE Rise, but would use it more if it had this feature.
Thanks for considering.

It’s perplexing when Articulate product managers outright ignore YEARS of posts where CUSTOMERS are telling you to add a product feature and yet their wisdom overrides these requests and the requirements go unfilled. Add freaking audio features and allow users to turn it on or off just like closed captioning. We can’t be more clear.

I agree, Jeffrey. I started reading this thread and was hopeful that after 3 years of this request I would find it was by now.
I create training for folks who have PhDs to may or may not have a high school education. I also need to reach multiple learning styles. Being able to add automatic audio to all Rise blocks.
Please add my voice to this feature request.
Thanks, Chris! It sounds like a good idea for a feature request! I'll pass it along to our team.

Hi Ashley,
As Chris, I want to add narration of the content in Rise. Is it currently possible now?

I get that making audio play automatically is not "best practice," but making audio available in ALL blocks would be so helpful! I second what so many have said in this thread. Please add me to the feature request for this.
What do we want? AUDIO!
When do we want it? NOW! (thanks!)

Quite disappointing if there's no progress on this yet after 5 years of folks asking for it. It should be default to be able to add an audio track to pretty much any Rise block - even if for sound effects or music, much less narration.
Hi Melissa - looks like you are asking specifically about adding audio in blocks. There's a Block in the Multimedia category called Audio. Try stacking that block before or after the media you are adding.
Hey Dawn - good question. We've shied away from auto-play audio generally on Rise because it's really non-standard on mobile devices.

Makes sense. Maybe it's the visual that is throwing me off. When I see the playback visual for audio, it feels like I'm about to listen to a podcast. As a user, I might just scroll right past it since podcasts are not really my thing. So as a designer, I would be hesitant to put relevant information into the audio feature.

Sorry Adam, what does "it's really non-standard on mobile devices" mean? Facebook plays audio and video without prompting. Youtube plays first, second and third videos without requiring intervention after the first click on the link.

I would respectfully disagree. When I performed an ethnographic observation of mobile learning habits, I discovered that many people are now habituated toward the youtube paradigm where scenes of audio-video play automatically. Swiping to a new section with audio starting at the same time is closer to the consumption habits of other types of media.

I have just started using Rise and I really like it. However, I do have a question: How do you put an audio in the course introduction? Or can you?

Hi. You REALLY need to provide us the option of auto-playing audio if we desire. It's a must.
