typing math symbols and exponents in RISE quiz option?? How do you do this?
How do I type in RISE quiz question and answer?
Please tell me its possible.
Thanks Michelle for sharing that insight here. I hadn't heard of LaTex before this discussion, but science and math were never my area! I took a quick look at their website and I'm curious how you use this in other applications? Can it be installed as a part of tools like Powerpoint? Is it a browser based add-on?
I'd love to get a bit more insight on how you're using it today with other tools to pass that along to my Product team!

Hi Ashley, just to add to Michelle's comments.
LaTeX is a method for writing math equations.
Some applications directly support LaTex, others require an add-on or extension. For instance I believe MS Word 365 now supports LaTex in the equation editor.
For displaying math on the web, LaTex is not directly supported by web browsers. MathML is another method of writing equations, but it is only supported by Firefox (and maybe Safari?)
Both LaTex and MathML are fully supported by "MathJax". MathJax is a Javascript library that processes the formulas and replaces them with elegant HTML/CSS. Mathjax is not the only parser available, but it is a standard one that is used.
Thanks for checking in, Mourad! Nothing new yet, but you're in the right place to stay up to date on this feature.
We're adding all kinds of new things to Rise -- have a look at the latest releases right here!
Thanks for adding your voice, Mich!

And just to add to the "fun", is there anyway in a quiz that student can enter answer with an exponent in?
Hey Jamie and Pauline,
We are tracking the use-case and feature requests from users, so I've added your thoughts to the report as well.
You're in the right place to be notified of updates we have to share.

We desperately need equation functionality. We were ready to buy full licenses until we discovered this snag :(

I was also facing the same problem, but i found the solution. Don't copy paste , you can edit the choice from slide view also. For ex. if you want to write 10−⁶ write 10 in the form view question choice, then open the slide view and edit the option , it works.

We need more than superscript and subscript, how do we add this?

While it's not ideal this is what we do for a work around. There is a software program called EquatIO that has a feature called "screenshot reader". If faculty provides us with equations we can use EquatIO to take a screenshot of the equation and download as a png or svg file. EquatIO also provides spoken text. So, the image is added to Rise and the spoken text is put in as Alt Tag to make it accessible.
Again, not ideal but it's what we are using for now to make sure complex equations can be added to Rise and are accessible. It would make more sense to have a text editor that can also do math. HOWEVER, I have had to create lessons as a PDF instead of using Rise because it would take to long to create some Physics lessons in Rise (and Word already has an equation editor available).
