Use a single project file per course, or one project file for a group of courses?
I have a long course (60 mins) and our SAP SuccessFactors LMS stops updating suspend_data (bookmarks) at a certain point. I tried SCORM2004 4th Edition because that can store up to 64,000 characters as compared to SCOrM1.2 which is only up to 4,000 characters. But a new problem arose - SuccessFactors won't track completion even though the Complete Course trigger is in place in the course.
Since I haven't resolved that issue, I am going to work around it by splitting the module into four courses. I don't want to make copies as I want the courses to continue with the same styles and master slide and feedback pages, rather than creating copies. But now I've found that publishing one course, Storyline stops at different points - either crashing, or telling me the folder is read-only (even though it's a new folder on my local drive).
Does anyone have any recommendations to resolving either of the above?
Hello Robyn,
Sorry to hear that you ran into this snag.
It sounds like splitting up your course into smaller sections may have caused some issues with the performance of your course. I recommend testing both the crashing issue and the completion not recording properly in a different LMS like SCORM Cloud, just to see if the behavior you're running into is specific to SuccessFactors LMS.
If you're not able to replicate the issue in SCORM Cloud, please reach out to the support team of SuccessFactors so they can check why your courses aren't working properly in their environment. If you are able to observe the crashing issues and the courses not reporting completion in SCORM Cloud, kindly share a copy of your project files here or in private by opening a support case so we can take a closer look at what's happening. We'll delete them when we're done testing!
I also noticed that you opened a separate discussion for the same inquiry here. I'm going to go ahead and close this discussion so we can consolidate all of the responses in this thread.

The course wasn't split up. I'm only doing that now to get around the issue.
I've decided to keep the (now 16) chapters in this one project file and publish each chapter separately - therefore loading as 5-10 min courses on our LMS.
SuccessFactors have an xAPI update happening so hopefully I can publish as xAPI or CMI and see if that gets around the suspend data issues once our organisation tests and enables this.
