Variable Playback Speed
We build our e-learning courses using Articulate Storyline. Recently, a number of our students have asked us if we can provide functionality of increasing the speed of the delivery, the provision that they have in Lynda courses and youtube videos.
So I was wondering there is a provision for the same in Articulate Storyline.
Thanks,
Payal
Hello Everyone!
I'm happy to share that we have released Storyline 360 version 72 (Build 3.72.29654.0).
Included in this release is a new feature where you can let learners explore at their own pace by choosing a course playback speed between 0.25x and 2x.
Now all you need to do is update Storyline 360 in your Articulate 360 desktop app on your computer. You'll find our step-by-step instructions here.
Please let us know if you have any questions by reaching out to our Support Engineers directly.
Have a great day!
Hi Amelia, and welcome to the E-Learning Heroes community!
Thank you for your feedback. I don't have an update just yet, but we'll be sure to let you know here when we have more to share!

Hi Team,
Has this feature been released?
Hello Developer 2,
The feature request for variable player playback speed is still in the works, but we'll definitely drop a message in this thread as soon as it is released! You can check out the status of features that are being worked on by visiting our roadmap here.

Playback speed control has been a pretty standard feature for media streaming platforms for a while now. Users (including myself) have come to expect it as a way to "skim" content. I'd really like to see this added ASAP.

the browser support speed control for video/audio - so it is no problem for media streaming platforms to support this - this is the easy part
for a complete training with synched text, images, animation, transitions, trigger it's a complex challenge - all has to be in synch regardless of browser performance and desired playback speed
does anyone knows a learning system which does support speed control for the whole functionality ?- AaronSmith-664bCommunity Member
Your point makes very good sense, especially since you support multiple playback formats. Presumably this issue needs to be resolved separately for each supported platform.
FWIW, my work is internal and proprietary, so we only use the web page option when we publish. We cannot store data on an external (3rd party) platform. For my needs, having the playback speed resolved for the HTML output option would resolve 100% of my needs.

Hi Luciana!
This is an awesome update! Do you know if it is possible to access the course playback speed Variable to manipulate using Triggers with different actions. For example, a custom button that adjusts the speed instead of using the standard button in the player?

Great to hear. I will test it right away. Curious now how it'll go if ios users will hear pitched sound 😬

I was testing this just now. It looks great so far!

I have finished testing it. While it's great to see it work well on windows, it's a bit of a joke on iOS, chipmunk voices when sped up. I'm hoping that this gets fixed asap.

You're awesome, Math! Thank you for checking it out! I'm deep diving as well but haven't found a way. I appreciate your help!
