Hi. I've created a video in Storyline 360 from 4 slides. When I embed it in Rise, it shows as a blank screen with start button. It plays as expected but I'd like to get a first frame picture showing rather than the white square. Grateful for any suggestions.

Hi folks. I have had a repeat of this problem but have found the solution. If you use the 'publish to video' option while Storyline is in 'Story' view, I get a blank start screen on the video. But if a slide is open, the video has the slide as the frame showing on the video when published - and when loaded into Rise. I thought I should complete the story :)

Hi folks, sorry to report but the problem continues and I cant get a fix. When publishing to video I check that there is a first screen image showing in the 'publish' dialogue. But when published, I get a blank screen on the file icon, and when I load it into Rise, is shows as a blank screen. The video plays ok but looks bad on the course. I've attached a copy of the Storyline file. Any advice appreciated.

What worked for me was to insert a first slide with relevant picture and NO actions, on a short time-line. Check to ensure that there are no transitions or animations and no sound. In the 'publish to video' section there is also an opportunity to see what the opening will look like - make sure that it shows the inanimate slide. Note that doing this alone is not sufficient to avoid the black opening. Then publish to SL as video, When I did this, the video came out correctly. Good luck.

Hi there, Errol. I would expect to see the first frame of your Storyline 360 video output rather than the blank page. Can you share the .mp4 here for testing? If you need to keep it private, use this link to share with us. We'll delete your files when we're done troubleshooting.

Thanks for any resolution. I'm not using any transitions either.

Any update as to why the first screen is blank? I am also not using a transition on the first slide, but I am getting a blank slide for the intro.

Tell me a little more about your course. Did you insert a Storyline block in your Rise 360 lesson, or did you insert a MP4 video?

Hi - I ran into this problem as well. Everything was fine until I added audio to my slides, then I got the same blank opening slide before the presentation. It is being caused by adding audio to the first slide of your deck. Once I removed the audio from the first slide and republished for RISE, then it worked fine again.

Hi, I'm joining this conversation as the same type of problem is happening for me with a black blank screen shows in RISE once my videos have been published from SL. As everyone says, the videos play as expected but how they look in RISE is not the video intro as a preview but a black screen. As troubleshooting, I even tried to publish from Replay then upload in RISE with the same result. Why does this problem happen? It's not consistent thought that I have seen whether I created the video in SL to upload or created as an .mp4 in another program to then insert in SL to be published with intro and outro pieces.

  Hi Cassandra - I ran into this a while back and my issue was audio on the first slide. Try putting a slide with no audio as the first slide and see if that corrects the issue.

    That is also my workaround. I basically inform the learner with a caption that the demo/simulation/video contains audio and it will begin after clicking Next.

I like that workaround Debra, I will add that as a text above the video in RISE. I agree with you. It looks really bad in a course to start off in black. Thank you.

I am having the same issue - Looks unexciting as black screen. Will add instruction regarding video will start after clicking next but it would be good to identify a way to show the nice intro page to entice the learner to press play

I had this problem a year or so ago. I found that it was not the audio, but transitions and animations. If I had either of these on the first SL slide and embedded it in Rise as a video or as a SL module, it gave the black screen. Removing the animation/transition worked for me.
