Videos not playing in published course. HELP!!
I am working on a course with lots of videos. Originally they were really blurry and so I've been having to use the work around I learned here. //www.screenr.com/NTHH
I published the course last week and the work around worked fine. Today I realized that some of the videos were not blurry because of SL, but because of the video themselves. Fixed the videos. Republished. Renamed the video files so I could replace them in the output file. Replaced them just like i did before.
Now when I open the output file (both web and LMS output) the videos do not play. They show up in preview mode, but not in the published version , HELP!!!
Hi Kim,
Sorry that was unclear! Hopefully this will help.
Prior to the fix we implemented in Storyline, if your project had a video on the first slide, the video would not play automatically. This is because Chrome wants the learner to interact with the slide or "click" before media can play.
Because Chrome requires this "click", our fix was to add a play button that learners will see when they launch or resume a course with a video on the first slide. Clicking the play button starts the course and allows the video to play automatically.
Chrome also remembers every domain you visit and will track if you've accepted media to play a certain number of times. This means that eventually, videos on a particular domain will play automatically without need for the play button.

I think that trying to get Google to change this policy has about as much likelihood of success as getting Chrome users to switch to another browser to view content.

Having the same issue on my files with videos working in preview but not working in any published version. Please contact me to help trouble shoot the issues with these files as redesigning my entire project would really affect my timelines.
Hi David! I opened a case for you with my team. You should get a confirmation email which includes an upload link to share your files.

My MP4 played in preview but not when published. I read through this thread and tried Will Findlay's suggestion of scooting the video over to start automatically after 1 second. It worked! Thanks Will!

I had today encoding issue with video after publish. I was checked folder story_content and I was wonder why I haven't got any video in location. After 2 hours I was turn off antyvirus and problem gone. Was some issues with encoding and saving video/audio files. Right now I can publish courses with all content.
Best,
Simon

Help! How do I get videos from YouTube to play in preview?
Hello Skyla and welcome to E-Learning Heroes :)
Certain content, such as web objects, are not available during preview.
You can read more about this here. Be sure to publish your content to view what your learner will see.

Hi all,
I've tried many of the tips/tricks/work-arounds noted in this thread and I still can't get my videos to play when published. They work fine in the preview. The content will be viewed in IE, so the Chrome and Safari information doesn't help me much.
Suggestions?
Good morning, Heather!
I'm happy to help look into why your videos are not playing in the published output. A few clarifying questions:
- Is this happening in any browser or just Internet Explorer?
- Is the course hosted on a web server or a learning management system?
- How were the videos imported into Storyline (From a file, website, Web Object)?
Lastly, are you comfortable with sharing the .story file? I'd like to test it in a similar environment and will delete it after troubleshooting. You can share it privately through this secure link.

I apologize for the delayed reply. Our IT department was able to help me out. I didn't realize that the web browser would block the Flash players.
Thank you for the prompt reply!
