Loading AP course to SkillPort w/SkillSoft Compatibility Toolkit

Feb 09, 2011

Does anyone have any instructions or information on loading an Articulate course (SCORM 1.2) to SkillSoft's LMS via the SkillSoft Compatability Toolkit?

Thanks!

Hi Andrew and Kristin, any luck with loading your content to Skillsoft LMS?  I am trying to get my organization to purchase Articulate. I have used Articulate with two other LMS systems and had no issue with loading, tracking etc.    The push back that I am getting is that I should be using Dialog for my e-learning instead of trying to purchase a third party tool.  Any feedback you can share would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks! Christine

Hi there!  To load custom content, whether from Articulate or another Third-Party development tool you'll need to have the SkillSoft Custom Content Publishing tool.  Otherwise, the SkillSoft Custom Content Publishing team can upload it for you, but I believe there is a fee.

Here's all the documentation on doing it:  http://documentation.skillsoft.com/25590.htm

Hi Christine, Articulate is by far much more robust than Dialogue. We migrated to Articulate a few months ago and have already seen  huge savings in development time. We also host all our new Articulate eLearning on Skillport.

I developed a quiz for a client using Quizmaker and it loaded fine and, so far, there are no issues with it running and tracking.

Hi Kistin,

I have been publishing our courses to SkillPort for some time with a few growing pains of course, but the courses are working perfectly and the reporting gets us what we need. I started out using Studio 09, now I am using Studio 13. We are using SkillPort 7.2.3 and use the new reporting system. The reports look like the 8.0 version. I publish everything in SCORM 1.2.

I have used the Skillsoft Compatibility Tool in the past, but that is NOT how I publish into SkillPort.

I use the SkillSoft Publisher to publish our courses. Here's how the that works for me;

To get started, we added Hosting space to our contract. Once that was complete, the SkillSpoft Advanced Product Customer Support team sent me a document with instructions, my logon credentials, and hyperlinks to the Web Apps. The uploading process is fairly simple using the SP web app.

The SP... is a web page interface that allows loading, testing, and uploading directly to the development environment. After the testing in dev is complete, the app prompts you to push the course over to the production environment.

Once the course is loaded, you can login to the dev and production environments to move the course to another folder, or create new folders, etc.

Note: I test the courses thoroughly on my system prior to uploading and testing i the SkillPort hosting evironment.

A word about Java… I run into Java issues at times but solve them by unstalling the Java update and reinstalling the older version. Currently, I use Java 7.45 and everything is working and reporting as expected.

Hope this helps.
