Are files of tables that are attached to a Rise course accessible?

I just attended a webinar on writing Alt text, and for complex graphics and charts, part of the recommendation is to provide a link to a table that contains the data in the chart, and to include "Select link below for a table of this data" in the alt text itself. So I want to verify that the table would also be accessible. Does it need to be a PDF file? Or a Word file? If so what needs to be done to make the table accessible to people with visual impairment?

Hi Kip!

Our table block is accessible. You don't necessarily have to have a link. You can put the table right below your chart or your complex graphic. Here's an example.

Credits to Webaim for the sample data I used in this example.

My recommendation is to put the table right after your chart or complex graphic rather than having a link to open up an external file if you can. This way, it is readily available to your audience.

Cheers!
