I work for the government and am not allowed to use the cloud based functionality of Articulate 360 without FedRAMP approval. This severly limits my abilities to work with my colleagues and clients. When is Articulate going to become FedRAMP approved?
Great question. Articulate 360 is hosted on Amazon Web Services (AWS). AWS uses FedRAMP compliant systems which:
Have been granted authorizations.
Address the FedAMP security controls based on NIST SP 800 -53.
Use the required FedRAMP templates for security packages posted in the secure FedRAMP repository that has been assessed by an accredited independent third party assessor (3PAO).
Maintain continuous monitoring requirements of FedRAMP.
Also, our hosting data center location has a Joining Authorization Board Provisional Authority to Operate (JAB P-ATO) and multiple Agency Authorization (A-ATO) for a 'moderate' impact level. The numerous AWS services, to which Articulate subscribes, are also in the scope of the JAB P-ATO boundary of 'moderate' baseline security categorization.
Articulate 360 was granted a three-year Authorization to Operate (ATO) through the General Services Administration, which is valid until July 19, 2023. Articulate is planning to begin the FedRAMP process in Q1 2021, it would typically last for 6 months before acquiring the certification.
If you have any questions, our sales team is happy to discuss further. You can reach out to them at sales@articulate.com.
UPDATE (11/13/2020): Edited to highlight our revised FedRamp timeline in bold.
We have our 3-year ATO and are currently within the FedRAMP certification process. Our Sales team is happy to answer any further questions you may have or if you'd like to discuss specifics you can reach out to them at sales@articulate.com.
We are wanting to use the tool to develop training materials for one of the DOE labs. Are there any updates on FedRAMP approval? I saw the note from 5 months ago that, "We have our 3-year ATO and are currently within the FedRAMP certification process." Any news? Thank you!
Since our Sales team can offer more information regarding updates to our FedRAMP certification process, I'd recommend connecting with their team via email at sales@articulate.com.
Hi, I would just like some clarification on the recent announcement of Articulate 360 being FedRAMP authorized. The article implies that the whole Articulate 360 suite is FedRAMP authorized. Does this mean the web-based apps, such as Rise and Review, are authorized as well?
Our FedRAMP approval includes both desktop and web-based applications for Articulate 360. You can find it under the Service Description of the FedRAMP Marketplace entry for Articulate 360.
You may reach out to our security team at security@articulate.com to check on whether any agency will be looking to get to moderate level in relation to our FedRAMP status.

Hi Katie,
I'm in a similar position to Kaye in that my organization can't use any cloud products/functionality that are not FedRAMP authorized.
Since we're almost done with Q1 of 2021, wanted to see if Articulate has made any progress on FedRAMP authorization and if that's still in the works.
