I am new to articulate, and I have a project that I am having issues with. I took over a project someone had already created, and in that project, some recordings were done. The problem is the minute you open the project, the recording starts playing, and it should not begin playing until to get down to a particular section. Since I did not create this project, I have no idea how the previous person embedded the recordings into the project, which means I have no idea how to change or fix it. Can someone please let me know if it is possible to fix this issue?

It would help to know which Articulate product you are using.
It sounds like you are using Storyline. Can you please confirm and include the version?
