Keep Text Only When Pasting?
Sep 08, 2017
The new paste rich text into Rise option is great, however is there an option to paste using a "Keep text only" option? - from a Word doc.
As I am in the middle of a project and I need to keep consistency with the previous standards. I could change the text in the doc itself but there is a misalignment with font size in a word doc and in Rise courses though.
Edit: I can save the Word doc as "Plain Text", this is more of a workaround though.

Hi Dorrien,
Have you tried right-clicking in the Rise text area and selecting "Paste as Plain text"? That should remove any formatting applied to the text from the Word document. Let me know if that's what you had in mind!
Hi Alyssa
That is what I had in mind, however this option is Chrome-specific. Firefox (as my default browser) and Internet Explorer do not have this option. I am quite happy using Firefox and do not want to have to be forced to use a specific browser though, this tool should have the same functionality across all browsers.
Hi Dorrien,
I wish pasting from a word doc cleared the formatting like it did before too, but you should be able to achieve the plain text paste in Firefox by using CTRL+SHIFT+V.
Hope this helps!
Thanks Kelly-Anne, that was helpful. Seems like I better go and have a mini refresher on Firefox keyboard shortcuts... https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/keyboard-shortcuts-perform-firefox-tasks-quickly
The following FF add-on will get you the same ability from your right-click contextual menu if you prefer using the feature from there rather than a kb shortcut.

Thanks Cassius, I will definitely give that a try.
Hi all,
We shipped a change to the text formatting while using copy/paste yesterday. Check out Adam's post here for more!
