Tincan Version from Storyline

Mar 15, 2013

Hello,

I am currently implementing tincan support for our LMS and many of our users are using Articulate Storyline. It appears that storyline uses the 0.9 version of the protocol, which is not compatible with the current 0.95 or the upcoming 1.0.

Do you have plans of supporting 0.95 and/or 1.0? Should I implement different versions of tincan support, or should I advise our clients to use SCORM instead, until Storyline and Tincan have moved on to 1.0?

Thank you in advance

Hi Periklis,

I apologize for the delay in response. I wanted to ask around and see if I could get some information on this before responding, just to make sure I share the correct information with you.

You're correct, Storyline currently uses 0.9. From what I'm hearing, we are planning to support 1.0, but we currently aren't able to share a time frame for when it will be available.

Personally I would suggest using SCORM for the time being, if you want to hold out for 1.0 support.

Thanks!

Christine

Hi Christine,

Can you share any more information on this yet?

I've been testing a couple of systems for TinCan (Wax LRS and Scorm Cloud) and neither are happy with Storyline published content. I am getting anything ranging from error messages to unreadable statements.

Storyline is the only authoring tool I use and clients are starting to ask about TinCan. I know this is all pretty new stuff but I'm hoping Articulate are able to keep up!

Cheers,

Mike

Hi there Mike! I hope you're doing well :)

I haven't seen any release information for this, but I do know that we're testing it and still intend on updating this.

I wish I could share more information, but I'm afraid I don't have anything to report just yet.

I'll try to be sure and update this thread, if I see any new information on this. If I happen to miss it, we'll probably announce the change in a new forum thread, or on the Word of Mouth blog. If you haven't already, you may want to subscribe to stay updated.

I hope you have a great day, Mike!

Thanks,

Christine

Hi,

I am new to the articulate world but very much interested in the progress that is being made on adopting the TinCan v1.0.x specification.  I am presently in the process of implementing TinCan support for my in-house built LMS and am at a cross-roads to determine whether I should implement support for TinCan v0.9 or take a leap of faith and do so for v1.0.x

Any timelines (even vague hints - such as: *cough* 1 year *cough* *cough* ) would be much appreciated but all jokes aside, if you have something to share please do.

Cheers,

Michael

Hi Michael and welcome to Heroes!

Unfortunately I don't have any dates, timelines, or even vague hints to share with you here - but I would suggest that if you're looking to have support for Tin Can 1.0 that you share those thoughts in the form of a feature request, and then as I mentioned to Steve, follow along with our blog or following Articulate on Facebook or Twitter
